Although July is known to be a slow period for game release, it doesn’t mean we should not miss this month. A few more exciting games have been caught on our radar this month. In particular, some games were pushed to July from previous dates due to the problems caused by the pandemic.
As Sony continues to hit summer with Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, last year’s limited-time PS4 exclusive, is finally coming to PC. Nintendo, on the other hand, is releasing several Switch exclusives that include the sequel to the cult classic Deadly Premonition and a new entry in the Paper Mario series. Catherine: Fully Body is coming to Switch and receiving a remake of THQ Nordic’s PS2 era favorite, Destroy All Humans.
To take a look at what’s on for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch, we’ve listed the biggest games of July 2020. We have ranked the games according to their release dates and platforms.
Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise (Switch) – July 17
A classic returns! Entering the role of the evil alien Crypto-137, you will terrorize the people of the 1950s on Earth. You’ll collect their DNA and reenact the legendary alien invasion action to bring down the US government. Using various alien weapons and psychic abilities, you will destroy the weak and poor people. With your Flying Saucer you will turn their cities into heaps of stones. A big step to crush humanity!
Ghost of Tsushima (PS4) – July 17
Ghost Of Tsushima is an open world action-adventure game set in 13th century Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, one of the last remaining Samurai to defend the island of Tsushima against the invasion of the Mongol empire. Since it was first announced in 2017, there has been a lot of excitement and anticipation around the game and its developer, Sucker Punch (Sly Cooper, Infamous). Given just a glimpse of Ghost of Tsushima’s story, world, and combat over the years, there’s a lot we really don’t know about the game. Fortunately, we’ll see what Ghost of Tsushima is like when we get to mid-July.
Paper Mario: The Origami King (Switch) – July 17
Nintendo surprised Paper Mario fans a few months ago when it announced Paper Mario: The Origami King. As with other games in the series, it has a whimsical feel to it. When the evil King Olly of Papercraft Mushroom Kingdom enters the scene, he kidnaps Princess Peach and takes control of Bowser’s army, creating mayhem. Therefore, both Mario and Bowser join forces with King Olly’s sister Olivia to overthrow the evil king’s origami empire. Paper Mario: Origami King also offers a refreshing new take on the classic game of the series. It features a new combat system that combines puzzle-solving skills with traditional turn-based combat.
