There have been rumors for some time that ATT is looking to sell WB Games, the games division of Warner Bros. It has now been reported that Microsoft, Activision, Electronic Arts and Take-Two Interactive are among the companies interested in the acquisition. The reports come from The Information website, which sourced themselves from two well-informed sources. It was emphasized that ATT has not yet made the final decision to whom to sell the WB Games or even if such a sale takes place.
The company is considering making such a transaction as its debt currently reaches $154 billion. One of the main sources of these liabilities is the loans received by ATT in 2018 to acquire Time Warner Group for US$85 billion.
According to reports, WB Games is valued at $4 billion. A potential buyer is still DC Comics and Warner Bros., like Batman, LEGO, or Harry Potter. It is unclear whether he will use his brands. That said, it’s hard to imagine that many publishers would be interested in such a purchase without at least a temporary license for this series.
According to rumors, a new Batman game and a high-budget Harry Potter game are in development. The possible new owner of WB Games will likely take over these projects as well.
